Do I need a permit for a home extension?
Not always. At the rear of a house you can often extend up to 4 metres deep without a permit, provided a number of conditions are met. The local zoning plan and the situation on site determine what is allowed. We check this in advance and take care of the application if one is needed.
What does a home extension cost?
That depends on the dimensions, the foundation, the type of frames and the level of finish. An extension usually starts from around €30,000. After a visit on site you receive a tailor-made quote, so you're not left with a vague estimate.
How long does it take to build an extension?
The construction itself usually takes a few weeks, depending on the size and the foundation. Including design, any permit and the delivery time of frames, the total lead time is a few months. You receive a concrete schedule in advance.
What's the difference between an 'aanbouw' and an 'uitbouw'?
In Dutch, an 'uitbouw' is open to the existing room, such as a larger kitchen or living room, while an 'aanbouw' is a separate room built against the house, such as an extra bedroom or study. In practice both terms are used interchangeably. We build both.
Should I choose an aluminium or a timber extension?
An aluminium extension is sleek, low-maintenance and suitable for large glass surfaces. Timber frame construction and traditional brickwork often blend in better with a classic home. We discuss the pros and cons for your situation and budget.
